LastLit is a photo app with one rule. You share one photo at a time, and it is safe for three hours. After that, it stays lit while more people tap Keep than Fade. When the fades catch up, it is gone, and you can share your next one.
We took LastLit from idea to a finished product: the rules, the brand, the iOS and Android app, the API and the website. It is launching soon on the App Store and Google Play.
What it does
- The three-hour window: every photo is protected for its first three hours, whatever the votes
- Keep or Fade: one vote per person, with the score hidden until you vote
- The Wall and Spotlight: the most-kept photo takes the Spotlight for at least an hour
- Legends: photos lit for 12 hours or more compete for longest-lit today, this week and all time
- Share cards that open in any browser, even for people without the app
- Safety built in: an 18+ gate, reporting and blocking, and full account and photo deletion
How it is built
- React Native with Expo for iOS and Android, with light and dark themes and over-the-air updates
- Node.js and Express API on MongoDB, with scheduled jobs that settle each photo's verdict on time
- Cloudinary and Sharp for image handling, with blurhash placeholders so the feed never looks empty
- A Next.js marketing site, exported as static files, with a strict content security policy
- A complete brand kit: mark, lockups, app icons, store graphics and social assets from one source
